My First Appointment

My First Appointment

Navigating infertility and family building can be a deeply personal and emotional experience.

The process often brings a mix of challenges—stress, uncertainty, and unanswered questions. Exploring treatment options without clear guidance can make these feelings even more overwhelming.

At Boston IVF, we prioritize providing you with the knowledge and support needed to begin your journey with confidence. Our dedicated team of fertility specialists, nurses, and clinicians will guide you every step of the way, offering personalized care and innovative solutions tailored to your needs.

With over 150,000 babies born since 1986 and a reputation for solving even the most complex reproductive cases, we are here to offer you expert care and hope, right where you need it most.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Your first appointment is an all-encompassing review of your fertility health, medical history, and reproductive options.

Our fertility experts will take the time to conduct an in-depth evaluation and develop a customized treatment plan that best fits your needs. Whether your circumstances are straightforward or complicated, we will guide you through the course of consultation and lead you on a path to achieving a healthy pregnancy in the shortest time possible.

At your first appointment you will:

✓ get to know your fertility doctor
✓ have a conversation about your fertility goals
✓ discuss your medical history
✓ receive detailed explanations and answers to your questions and concerns
✓ learn more about the reproductive options that may be best-suited to your needs
✓ meet your nursing team
✓ develop a fertility plan
✓ arrange for future testing

BRING SUPPORT

Having a strong social support system is incredibly valuable. For couples, we highly recommend that both partners attend the first appointment together. It’s important for everyone involved to gain a clear understanding of the journey ahead.

If you’re single, consider inviting a trusted friend or family member to join you, if that feels right. Having an additional set of ears can be helpful in processing and understanding important information.

WHO YOU WILL MEET

Our goal is for you to leave your first fertility appointment in a confident frame of mind and with a clear, hopeful understanding of your action plan.

At your first appointment you will meet with:

✓ your Boston IVF fertility doctor, who will gather information and create an individualized care plan to help you achieve your fertility goals

✓ your fertility nurse, who, alongside your doctor, will assist in carrying out your unique treatment plan

✓ your financial coordinator, who serves as a liaison between you and your insurance company. They will act as your advocate with insurance companies and find creative ways to minimize costs and financial stress

TOPICS WE MAY DISCUSS

At the heart of your first appointment is an open, honest discussion that will help us take the first steps toward an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan.

In effort to give you a head start, below are a handful of potential topics and questions we may discuss:

✓ your family building goals and challenges
✓ length of time you have been actively trying to get pregnant
✓ frequency of intercourse
✓ duration and symptoms of your typical cycles
✓ any previous experience of miscarriage
✓ genetic diseases in your family histories
✓ any previous medical or fertility treatments

MAXIMIZE YOUR VISIT

Many people feel hesitant about asking too many questions, but during your first fertility visit, we encourage you to ask as many as you need.

Even if it means repeating the same question multiple times.

Our primary goal during this meeting is to make sure you fully understand everything we discuss and feel confident about any diagnosis or potential treatments tailored to your unique situation.

We are here to guide and support you every step of the way, ensuring that you feel empowered and hopeful as you take the first steps toward building the family you dream of.
