OUR STORY

Share your inspiring success story!
Our story is long and heartbreaking, like anyone else going through infertility (no matter how long the journey).

We experienced multiple miscarriages, lacked insurance benefits for fertility diagnostics and treatment, struggled with family/friend/social relationships, and lost ourselves along the way.

We sought intervention from everything we could afford: counseling, less technical fertility treatments, surgeries, and avoided anything perceived to be a threat to fertility. Still, we were unsuccessful.

Finally, we moved to MA and found a way to afford the care we needed to overcome our infertility. We found Dr. Brian Berger at Boston IVF and our lives changed for the better (their names are Bella and Brennan).

After our journey ended, I committed myself to helping others access timely and appropriate care for their infertility. I lobbied for infertility legislation in New England and Nationally. I've helped change policy related to infertility benefits by working with legislators, employers and insurers. Seeing how one voice could make all the difference, I developed a nonprofit, Fertility Within Reach, which educates and provides tools to help people effectively advocate for fertility health benefits. The past years of pain, found it's purpose in the ability to help others.

Our success story, like anyone's story, has a ripple effect. Boston IVF and Dr. Berger, didn't just help develop a family, but a tireless advocate.
How did your boston ivf physician and nursing team help to make your journey a success?
Boston IVF was our fourth different fertility clinic.

When we met with Dr. Brian Berger, we knew he was the doctor for us. He listened to our concerns, answered all our questions, and his suggestions were described with thought-out details.

His presence was calming and simultaneously left us with a sense of confidence that we were moving forward, in the best direction.

We had experienced 0% pregnancies previously, but under Dr. Berger's care, we were 100% successful each time. Most importantly, having our doctor as our teammate, was the most positive experience we could hope for. We love Dr. Berger!
Did anyone/anything else help you through your infertility journey?
Fertility acupuncture made a significant difference for me. My follicle production doubled when undergoing acupuncture before my IVF cycle.

Also, I developed a support system from a group of women I met through an online bulletin board. We met monthly, cheered each other on, and did our best to help bring balance and sanity to our treatment days.
What were some highs or lows of your treatment(s)? What is unique/different about your story?
I kept a journal during my desperate days. I look back now and read how I thought of myself as a "freak" and "diseased," - searching for my reason for existing.

I still keep those journals and I share my pain with others to remind them there is hope and that these horrible feelings are temporary.
What advice do you have for other struggling with infertility?
You are a fabulous person, who happens to be facing infertility.

You are more powerful than you realize. By relying on your clinic staff and a support system, it helps you to become empowered and transition from feeling helpless to hopeful.

Your strength has no boundaries.
