It is truly hard to fathom that in 2022, our reproductive freedom – a fundamental human right – is now at risk. 

At Boston IVF, we strongly oppose the overturning of Roe v. Wade and the severe impact it will have on reproductive healthcare across the United States. We support the privacy and right of all people to make personal choices regarding access to life-saving care, reproductive treatments, and their embryos. We felt this way almost 40 years ago when we first opened our doors – and even more so today.

Massachusetts is a national leader and one of the first states to recognize fertility treatments, like IVF, as an essential healthcare right. On the contrary, 13 states across the country have already taken the initial steps to ban abortion. These states have “trigger laws” in place that immediately ban abortion within 30 days of Roe v. Wade’s overturning. IVF may not be affected in these states; however, the definition of “personhood” in relation to the rights and storage of frozen embryos are of the utmost concern.
